GHC-241EZ Tone Tools Electric Shear Wrench Description: Tone Tools Shear Wrenches are specifically designed to be used with Tension Control Twist Off Bolts. A Tension Control Bolt is a system consisting of 1 bolt, 1 nut and 1 washer, pre-assembled for delivery to the user. TC Bolts or Twist Off Bolts feature a built in tension control device (spline portion at the threaded end of the bolt).

The nut and washer are removed from the bolt, then the bolt is inserted into the structure, and the washer and nut are repositioned on the bolt and finger-tightened. Final installation is accomplished with specialized Tone Tools Electric Shear Wrench Tools. The tool does all the work. As the outer socket rotates clockwise tightening the nut, the inner portion of the tool grips the spline at the end of the bolt to keep the bolt from turning, and to provide the reaction torque. (The operator is not using his strength to tighten the nut.) As the nut tightens, the torque inside the tool increases until it reaches the designed shear strength, and the end of the bolt shears (twists) off. Clamping loads are correct, inspectable, and repeatable.
